Dania Beach, Florida Vintage Motorcycle Show returns for 2022. |
The 2022 Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, in Frost Park, Dania Beach, Fla.
It's a big, free, outdoor vintage motorcycle show that never fails to entertain and educate me. The Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show is always the first event on my calendar every year.
My Royal Enfield Bullet and I have gone to the Dania Beach show nearly every year since 2009. I think my Royal Enfield was probably as sad as I was when the 2021 show was cancelled by Covid.
I'm boosted, it's an outdoor show, and I'll wear a mask (although not required), so I'll feel safe attending this year.
Will I feel comfortable in a mask? Well, I feel comfortable in my helmet, don't I?
Will someone think I look stupid wearing a mask? He should be thankful he doesn't have to look at me without it.
More than 250 antique motorcycles will be judged. Registration opens at the park at 7 a.m. and closes at 10:30 a.m. sharp. A $10 cash fee is required for each motorcycle entered, with 50 trophies for the 50 best and two trophies for two best-of-shows and 50 ribbons for merit.
Expect live music, vendors, dealer exhibits and a swap meet. A big part of the fun for me is always the separate vintage bicycle display area.
Frost Park is at 300 NE Second St., Dania Beach, Fla. This is just east of U.S. 1, one-half mile south of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Here's a selection of my photos from each year I've attended the Dania Beach Show.
2009: A 1950 Imme (German) carries a spare wheel and tire. |
2010: Pavel Karasek with restored 1957 Jawa Pionyr ("Pioneer" in Czech). The little Jawa was in such a state when found that he got it free. |
2011: 1908 Indian board track racer entered by Sherry and Ed Mechan. |
2012: This Indian custom honors the Boozefighters of old. (Kenneth Maginnity Photo). I missed the show this year. |
2013: A young woman adds pin stripes to a Norton. Deep concentration. |
2014: 1951 Norton 500 presented by Daniel Nogueira is "ride 'em like you find 'em." Bald tires, tail light held on by peeling tape, headlight cocked out of line. |
2015: 1971 Bond Bug delighted onlookers. |
2016: Jet Age sidecar attached to 1973 Pannonia T5, from Hungary. |
2017: 1966 Norton Atlas mounted vintage looking luggage. |
2020: Westinghouse electric cart. Rider stands on accelerator pedal. |
2019: Simplex Servi-Cycle wasn't afraid to ride in the wet. |
2020: 1957 TWN Tessy scooter has sleek shape that belies its bluff front end. |
