Reflecting on 2018 Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show

Now that you've seen all my photos of great old motorcycles from last weekend's Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show, can you sit still for a few oddball photos? These last photos highlight one of my favorite features of old motorcycles:

Reflectors.

Yup, the simple, usually red bits of plastic that seem to light up at night when hit by the headlights of other vehicles.

But wait, there's more. The Yamaha even has a reflector on the side of its tail light!

Reflectors are most familiar to us on bicycles, where they sometimes pass as the only nighttime illumination. They really aren't enough to ensure your safety at night.

The bicycle shop in my neighborhood refuses to sell them at all! They blame them for creating a false sense of security.

Reflectors are required on motor vehicles, along with more substantial lighting, so they have to appear somewhere on motorcycles. Where to put them? The locations can be boring or, in some cases creative.

Here's that Kawasaki H2/Denko CR120 750 in full. Two-stroke, three-cylinder,
750cc motor, it was intended to make the H-2 a cafe racer. Formidable.
Hiding under the green ribbon is the yellow reflector on the front fork!
